Physics - NCEA Level 2

Entry Requirements: 14 credits at Level 1 Science, or at Head of Learning's discretion.


Course Outline:

Physics is the science of matter and energy and of interactions between the two, grouped in fields such as mechanics, electricity, electromagnetism, waves and light as well as atomic and nuclear physics.

The five main areas of study are:

  • Practical Investigation
  • Atomic and Nuclear Physics
  • Mechanics
  • Electricity and Electromagnetism
  • Light and Waves


Assessment:

  • Internal credits - up to 10
  • External credits - up to 16
  • Total credits - up to 26


Comments: Success in the Level 1 external Physics Achievement Standard AS90940 is advised.


This course leads to: Level 3 Physics
