Global Perspectives IGCSE 0457

Entry Requirements: Open to all students.

 

Course Outline:

This course aims to make students aware of global problems and encourages them to explore potential solutions. It focuses on current affairs and global events. It revolves around various topics that provide a context for students to understand global issues from personal, local, national, and global viewpoints.

Topics may include aspects related to these issues of global importance: Human rights; Law and criminality; Belief systems; Changing communities; Humans and other species; Education for all; Sustainable living; Conflict and peace; Poverty and inequality.

 

Assessment:

All candidates take three compulsory components.

· Component 1: Written Examination (1 hour 15 minutes). 70 marks, 35%.

· Component 2: Individual Report. 60 marks, 30%.

· Component 3: Team Project. 70 marks, 35%.

 

Comments:

This course develops useful transferable skills. To develop their understanding, students will develop their critical thinking skills by researching, decision making, planning, effective communication, creative problem-solving, reflection, teamwork and independent learning.
