Economics - IGCSE 0455

Entry Requirements: Open to all students.

Course Outline:

The IGCSE Economics syllabus develops an understanding of economic theory, terminology and principles. Students study the economics of different countries and how they interrelate. They also learn to work with simple economics data and to use the tools of economic analysis. Students will apply their understanding to a range of current local, national and international issues. The course covers the following topics:

  • The basic economic problem and the allocation of resources
  • Microeconomic decision makers
  • Government’s role in the macroeconomy
  • Economic development and international trade

Assessment:

All candidates take two components. Candidates will be eligible for grades A* to G.

  • Paper 1: Multiple Choice (45 minutes). 30 marks, 30%.
  • Paper 2: Structured Questions (2 hours 15 minutes). 90 marks, 70%.
