Our Houses
The Heart of the School
The House system is the heart of Wanganui Collegiate School, for boarding and day students alike. Our strong sense of community is fostered by our traditional House system. We provide a safe and caring environment in which students can grow into well-rounded, independent, articulate young adults.

Students feel secure, safe and happy
Our Housemasters are committed to ensuring that students feel secure, safe and happy. Students are tremendously loyal to their Houses - you only need to witness an inter-House compeition to see this.
There are six Houses with each having a mix of boarding and day students. There are roughly 10 to 20 students from each year group; small enough to have their own sense of identity within the larger House community.
There is a high level of adult supervision and support in each House. A Housemaster and his or her family live in each House together with the House Matron. All Houses have an Assistant Housemaster who shares weekend and evening duties.
House Competitions
The Houses are fiercely competitive and the various House competitions held during the year are hard-fought and showcase the true passion each student feels for their House.
