The House system is at the very heart of what makes Collegiate special.
Our boarding offering is arranged into a family-like house system. It is a place where older students are expected to act as role models for younger students and help prepare them for the many inter-house competitions throughout the year.
The house system is at the very heart of what makes Wanganui Collegiate special. Our boarders come from rural areas as well as metropolitan areas such as Auckland and Wellington. We also have overseas students from as far afield as Germany, Thailand and Japan.
Opened as a boarding school for boys over one hundred and sixty years ago, the School has continued to be progressive with its boarding offering. There are over three hundred boarders throughout the School. This number is made up of four boys’ houses Selwyn, Grey, Hadfield, and Harvey. Since 1991 we have also offered girls boarding with two separate girls’ houses, Bishops and Godwin, on campus.
Our spacious grounds, modernised facilities and beautiful heritage buildings literally give our students space to grow.
