Houses

The House system is at the very heart of what makes Whanganui Collegiate School special. Our six Houses are fiercely competitive and the various House competitions held during the year, be it cultural, sporting or academic are hard-fought, showcasing the true passion students feel for their House.

Houses are arranged into a family-life system where older students act as role models for younger students. Over three hundred boarders throughout the School are divided into four boys’ houses (Selwyn, Grey, Hadfield and Harvey) and two girls’ houses (Bishops and Godwin).

Our boarders come from across New Zealand, both rural and metropolitan areas and around the world as we welcome overseas students from as far afield as Germany, Thailand, Chile, and Japan.
