Living and Learning

Once upon a time, boarding school was a necessity for many young people. Many of our boarders today are from families with a proud, multi-generational, Whanganui Collegiate School tradition.

Today's boarders, however, are here because they want to be, not because they have to be. They embrace our live-in educational environment. They thrive on the academic, sporting and cultural opportunities boarding makes possible and they love being with their friends all the time.

Students will tell you that their House is more than where they stay. It may begin as their home away from home, but it quickly becomes part of their identity: their whanau, their community. The place where lifelong friendships are formed.

Parent Resources

At Whanganui Collegiate School, the educational pathway of students is facilitated in partnership between whanau and School staff. Families of boarding and day students are very much involved in the progress, provision and celebration of student achievements. Parents and caregivers are regularly updated with student progress through Collegiate Connect and Schoolbox and have access to Schooltv, an online resource which helps provide factual information around raising safe, happy and resilient young people.

Our Parent Portals makes it easy and accessible for our parents or caregivers to stay involved and up to date.
